Our guest blogger today is Esther Ingabire, a ONE Youth Ambassador in Belgium.

31st of March, finally! The date has arrived. The Youth Ambassador journey has started and I just can’t wait to meet the other Belgian ambassadors.

After a nice but busy day of training and icebreaking at the ONE office in Brussels, we continue bonding over dinner. The thrill is there, everybody seems excited and I finally feel like I’m doing the right thing: standing up for something which I believe in.

The appetisers were more than tasty:  we met current Members of European Parliament (MEPs) Fiona Hall, Arlene McCarthy, Said El Khadraoui and Corina Cretu. The last three of them signed our ONE VOTE 2014 pledge, as well as election candidate Afzal Khan from the UK.

ONE kept the main dishes and dessert for the end of the day: meeting EU Development Commissioner Piebalgs and the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz (yes that’s right, the man himself ladies and gentlemen!).

The dessert was over the top. It was inspiring and way much more than expected:  His Excellency the President of Ghana himself! His speech just boosted every ambassador’s motivation and gave us all the same feeling: virtually ending extreme poverty IS in our hands, WE can make a difference and last but not least: TOP leaders are backing us.

If we can’t make it, who can? I’m going to bed with just ONE feeling: this is TOTALLY worth it!
