Last week it was announced that the Irish elections will take place on 26th February.
Obviously in true ONE style, we want to get involved as early as possible, to ensure that all parties have the world’s poorest in mind when they make vital decisions on development issues.
Ireland has always been a generous nation when it comes to development aid – but we still very much need YOUR help to keep it that way.
We’re aiming to get as many TD’s as possible to sign our ONE VOTE pledge, which is a promise to voters up and down the country that they will commit to helping the world’s poorest by joining in the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease.
We also want politicians to put girls and women firmly at the heart of development. Our Poverty is Sexist campaign showed that girls and women are hit hardest by extreme poverty, yet are also the catalysts for change in their communities. We need Irish TDs to acknowledge this and pledge to help girls and women lift their communities out of extreme poverty.
So naturally we will need YOU to help apply the pressure.
We’ll keep you up to date with ONE VOTE Ireland on the blog, but please make sure you also follow our brand new @ONEinIreland Twitter account for breaking news!
ONE VOTE is a project of ONE Action.
