19 of Africa’s hottest recording artists have come together to record a new track, ‘Cocoa ‘na Chocolate’ exclusively for ONE. It’s one of the continent’s biggest ever musical collaborations, and has a loud message for African leaders: Do Agric, It Pays!
Here are some of the artists who feature on the track, and what they think about agriculture in Africa.
D’Banj, Nigeria
“The Koko Master has become the Koko Farmer. I think agriculture is cool – so cool that I am prepared to get my hands dirty to be part of a cool crowd.”
Victoria Kimani, Kenya
“I think agriculture is the way forward, not only from a financial aspect, but in giving back and providing jobs. I think it’s an amazing cause. Everyone here has their own swag, their own style and when you put all that together its crazy.”
Bufallo Souljah, Zimbabwe
“I bring the Zimbabwe flavour. I’m a reggae dancehall artist but when you are trying to pass on a message and representing your nation, you need to have sounds of Zim in there.”
Dama do Bling, Mozambique
“In this song, all 20 artists just make this one big great voice. I can say to my country, yes we are a part of this, we have to make the politicians change their mind about agriculture.”
Vusi Nova, South Africa & Diamond, Tanzania
Vusi Nova: “If we want the youth to think that agriculture is cool, what better way than to do it than with all these artists. Big up ONE Campaign for asking me to be part of this, it’s such an honour, its beautiful.”
Diamond: ‘Most people don’t care about farming, but farming is where we can get a lot of money.”
Dontom, Nigeria
“My lyrics are in pidgin English and I’m trying to let people understand that there is a need for us to improve our potential by supporting Do Agric. Lets make Africa great, a beautiful place, put our hands together and support agriculture.”
