Ma\u00e9 Kurkjian, charg\u00e9e de plaidoyer pour l\u2019ONG ONE, d\u00e9clare\u00a0<\/strong>: \u00ab\u00a0Les dirigeants du G20 se sont r\u00e9unis \u00e0 Bali pour se remettre d’accord sur ce qu’ils avaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 convenu l’ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re. Une fois de plus, le G20 n’a pas r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 prendre des mesures concr\u00e8tes pour les millions de personnes les plus touch\u00e9es par les crises \u00e9conomique et climatique, ainsi que par la faim et la pauvret\u00e9. Ce sommet n\u2019am\u00e8nera pas de r\u00e9el progr\u00e8s pour r\u00e9gler la crise de la dette ou pour atteindre leurs engagements de recyclage des Droits de Tirage Sp\u00e9ciaux.<\/em><\/p>\n

22 pays africains sont actuellement au bord de la faillite, mais le G20 ne semble pas avoir compris l\u2019urgence et la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9tablir un calendrier clair pour r\u00e9former des banques multilat\u00e9rales de d\u00e9veloppement, qui pourraient pourtant mobiliser jusqu’\u00e0 1000 milliards de dollars de financements suppl\u00e9mentaires.\u00a0<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n

Ma\u00e9 Kurkjian ajoute<\/strong>\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Il faut encore attendre la fin de la COP27 pour \u00e9valuer leurs engagements pour le climat. Le G20 envoie toutefois signal positif avec un nouvel objectif plus ambitieux en mati\u00e8re de financement du climat, mais leur incapacit\u00e9 \u00e0 tenir les 100 milliards de dollars d\u00e9j\u00e0 promis reste tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9occupante.<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

Ma\u00e9 Kurkjian, Senior Policy and Advocacy Manager, said: <\/strong>\u201cYet again we have seen a G20 Summit that has promised much but which has failed to deliver real action for the millions of people affected most by hunger, poverty, economic distress and the climate crisis. Ultimately, leaders got together in Bali to agree what they agreed last year. Instead of announcing new action they have reiterated existing commitments to tackle <\/em>the hunger, climate and economic crisis. And measures that would help the countries worse affected seem like an afterthought with no real progress on fixing the debt crisis or making progress on their SDR commitment.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>There are still 22 African countries facing bankruptcy but the language on reforming multilateral development banks lacks urgency and a clear timeline. <\/em><\/p>\n

While a full assessment of climate commitments will need to wait for COP outcomes, it\u2019s good to see a clear signal on a new and more ambitious climate finance target but the failure to deliver on the $100bn already promised raises concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n
