Our Victories

In February 2023, millions of Nigerians, including many young first-time voters, actively participated in the presidential elections, just as they did four years ago. A notable portion of these new voters found inspiration in ONE’s Vote Your Future campaign.

In the run-up to Germany’s 2021 federal elections, we made sure that strong commitments to global justice and sustainable development were at the heart of the debate and that the 2030 Agenda became prioritised.

In low-income countries, girls are less likely to get a decent education, less likely to have the same opportunities for work, and less likely to have a say in their own lives than their brothers.

In 2019, we launched the ONE Vote campaign across Europe. We set out with great ambition: Getting the majority of European leaders to commit to joining our fight against extreme poverty.

In 2017 ONE launched the Girls Count campaign to fight the fact that over 130 million girls were out of school around the world. If these out-of-school girls formed a country, it would be the 10th largest in the world.

In February 2019, millions of Nigerians voted to elect a president, including many young people who went to the polls for the first time. ONE’s Vote Your Future campaign was about making sure young people understood the issues that affect Nigerians and making sure their vote counted.

In 2020, ONE launched a campaign to help Gavi achieve its third replenishment goal of at least US$7.4 billion in additional funding in order to ensure more people can have access to lifesaving vaccines.

The Global Fund has helped save 27 million lives since its creation in 2002. That’s 27 million people who can live, work, attend school, and contribute to their communities without the burden of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

In 2016 ONE launched the Make Naija Stronger campaign to call on the Nigerian government to implement the National Health Act to ensure all Nigerians, especially the poorest, are able to access health care.

In May 2019, there was a massive outcry after two young Senegalese women were raped and murdered. Hundreds of people took to the streets demanding justice and action to combat gender-based violence in Senegal.

In 2018 ONE successfully campaigned to get the BUILD Act passed into law in the United States, opening the doors to increased private sector investments in Africa.

In 2014, ONE launched a campaign exposing the biggest heist you’ve never heard of. Our analysis showed that more than a trillion dollars is syphoned from developing countries every year.

In February 2016, President Barack Obama signed the Electrify Africa Act into law — marking a huge success for ONE campaigners, who had worked for years to make this truly unique legislation become law.

Vaccines are some of the lowest-cost, highest-impact ways to reduce preventable child deaths. Every US$1 investment in immunisation yields a return of US$54 in broader societal benefits.

ONE supporters partnered with some of the world’s biggest artists to urge world leaders to take decisive action towards ending extreme poverty by 2030.

ONE launched a campaign to urge the International Monetary Fund to use profits from a proposed gold sale to help the world’s poorest countries weather the financial storm brought on by the global financial crisis.

Over the course of our campaign, over 2 million Africans rose to the occasion and joined ONE in sending a message to leaders by signing the Do Agric petition. These actions made this the biggest mobilisation in ONE’s history!
