Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for this year? For the ONE team in Canada, we are thankful for the opportunity to work with our wonderful volunteers who are actively participating in our democracy and championing ONE’s mission to end extreme poverty and preventable disease.
This month, Canada’s Finance Committee is holding public pre-budget hearings across the country to listen to what Canadians want to see our government invest in.
And guess what? Our volunteers have been showing up in full force to these hearings and delivering ONE’s message: Canada needs to do its fair share in international development efforts!
In Ottawa, the public hearing took place on Parliament Hill. A group of awesome ONE members from Ottawa showed up and delivered multiple statements. Thanks to Mary Patricia, Sana, Edidiong, Duncan and Terrie.

In Charlottetown, ONE’s Canada Director, Stuart Hickox, was joined by ONE member Mary and Iker, a volunteer with our friends at Engineers Without Borders. Together, they called on the government to increase its contribution to international development. Thank you, Mary & Iker!

Xavier, a young student we met during #Forum4YC earlier this year represented Canadians at the public hearing in Québec City. Merci Xavier!

Toronto was the last city where the Finance Committee is holding public hearings before the Thanksgiving weekend. Thank you to Lara, Irene, Somduan, Robb, Michael, Tanya, Matt and Sarah for attending and using your voice to support a world where extreme poverty and preventable diseases would no longer exist!
Ending the eastern leg of the pre-#Budget2019 hearings with a bang! Thank to all our members who attended and spoke today in Toronto calling on Canada to increase international development support. We're proud to share this message with @ewb @worldvisioncan @MKs4SDGs & others. pic.twitter.com/fmvxq2ahgq

The pre-budget hearings are not over yet, they will continue October 15-18 in Whitehorse, Victoria, Edmonton & Winnipeg. The Finance Committee might not be able to visit a city near you but we want to make it easy for people to add their voice: all you have to do is tweet a video statement to the Finance Committee!
