It’s been almost 2 months that most Canadians have been stuck at home. While we can’t show up to rallies or have in-person meetings, there are still meaningful ways to use our voices and make an impact.
Here are three easy and meaningful actions that you can take right now.
Sign the #ONEWorld petition
As we’ve seen, this virus does not respect borders. That’s why the whole world needs to work together to fight it. A global pandemic requires a global response, one that includes both short- and long-term solutions. That’s why ONE launched the ONE World campaign, asking governments for a Pandemic Response Plan that:
- Protects the vulnerable, supports essential workers, and makes a vaccine available to everyone. We need global resources to fund a strong humanitarian response in the poorest countries and the development of new medicines and vaccines available to all, so that no one is left behind.
- Supports people worst hit economically. We’ve already seen the economic impact of the pandemic at home and in many rich countries. But the impact could be devastating in Africa where many live in extreme poverty. Funds are urgently needed to tackle the immediate consequences and more to minimize the long-term impact.
- Strengthens health systems so we’re ready if this happens again. We live in a connected world and when it comes to global health security, we’re only as strong as our weakest link. Diseases can quickly spread beyond borders and to protect our own citizens, we must have strong health systems globally.
Spread the word virtually
We need everyone to stand together and demand a Pandemic Response Plan. While you cannot see friends and family, you can still help spread the word virtually through social media!
I’m standing in solidarity with @ONE_in_Canada to call on leaders for a Global Pandemic Response Plan. I vow to stand with everyone, everywhere around the world to fight #COVID19. Take action for #ONEWorld now
Share your story of solidarity
Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve heard incredible stories of global solidarity and unity shared by ONE supporters in Canada, Europe, Africa and around the world. People are showing support for the heroes on the frontlines, their neighbours, their communities and also doing their part to stop the spread of the virus.
During these challenging times, these stories have lifted our team’s spirits and we want to continue sharing this positive light with everyone.
Want to do even more?
These three things are a few simple ways take action. Every bit helps so thanks for taking part!
If you’re ready to take the next step, we’ve created guides to help you contact to your MP and write a letter to the editor.
