ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Campaigns Coordinator, you will support and lead elements of ONE’s campaigning and advocacy in the UK and globally. You will be involved in planning activities that engage our supporters, influence political leaders and will coordinate our Youth Ambassador programmes with activists from across the UK when required.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, dependable, and able to handle a varied and fast-paced role. Ideally, you would have knowledge or experience of UK politics, prior experience in working with volunteers/ activists, used both online and offline campaign tactics, and believe in the value of people-powered campaigning! The Campaigns Officer will report directly to the UK Senior Campaigns Manager and will be based in London, with some occasional travel within the UK and Europe. This is a permanent position.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL
- Lead the Youth ambassador programme in the UK. To create an active and impactful cohort of 50+ Youth Ambassadors. Duties will include recruiting, training and supporting Youth Ambassadors, developing briefing materials and workshops, delivering an effective support and communication plan for Youth Ambassadors, planning and managing events (e.g. lobby days, online trainings and MP meetings), monitoring and consistently improving the programme, and tracking expenses and logistical support.
- Leading the campaigns function on some ongoing and emerging campaign areas, effectively coordinating with colleagues across the UK team and wider organization, as relevant.
- Utilise relevant data and insights from outside of ONE as well as seek our own to inform our work.
- Support the UK team with the implementation of ONE’s advocacy and campaigns, engaging with key audiences to find and use opportunities to promote policy change and deliver ONE’s objectives.
- Contribute to creative campaign planning by helping to design and deliver effective online and offline campaign actions and organising interesting actions which engage our supporters to influence the public, MPs and other targets.
- Write effective copy and email correspondence with supporters and supporting the design of ONE’s campaign materials, and resources.
- Writing engaging digital campaigning journeys, leading on copy and designing email correspondence with supporters. Work with the Campaigns team to improve our supporter engagement work online and offline.
- Help create ONE’s campaign communications, materials, and resources on UK and Global campaign areas including, climate, global health, development finance and poverty eradication.
- Liaise with vendors, external service providers and other third parties outside the organization according to projects’ needs
- Promote our campaigns activity via social media and through traditional media outlets, manage and monitor our social media accounts when needed.
- Work closely with the other areas of the UK team (policy, advocacy, media, operations) for maximum impact, to streamline our external communication and to find opportunities in UK for the promotion of ONE’s key messages; making sure communication is aligned between media and campaigns.
- Represent ONE in external meetings such as international development sector coalitions, or with agencies and MPs– building productive working relationships with partners, MPs and external stakeholders whilst always maintaining confidentiality.
- Work alongside the UK Communities Coordinator to ensure effective collaboration between the Youth Ambassador and UK Community Leaders programme where needed. .
- Provide extensive project management related to the above-outlined activities
- Additional duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING TO ONE
- 2 years’ experience working in the fields of campaigning, volunteer management and/or advocacy.
- Good understanding of the UK and global political processes and systems, interest in politics, campaigning approaches and tactics; Knowledge of international development and Africa preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively within a team and to engage and motivate people of different backgrounds and levels, from policymakers to Youth Ambassadors and ONE supporters.
- Extensive experience with volunteer management and programmes, ideally with a focus on activating young people to be active citizens.
- Excellent communication and writing skills; experience in copywriting for campaign communications, email, newsletters, blogs and social media channels is an asset.
- Track record in event and project management. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities and workloads; generally very well-organised; proven ability to multi-task.
- Strong facilitation and training design skills, with experience in creating high-quality supporter campaign materials.
- Knowledge and understanding of various online and offline campaigning approaches and tactics.
- An understanding of the links between policy, lobbying, campaigning, and media work and of how policy change can be achieved through effective advocacy.
- A commitment to ONE’s mission and policy priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities and workloads; generally, very well-organised; proven ability to multitask.
- Ability to work as part of a global team and in a culturally diverse environment.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Outlook and Excel, as well as Twitter and Facebook

COMPENSATION RANGE
£29,500 – 32,000 per annum (Employed Full-Time)
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Fluency in English required. Proficiency in other languages such as French and German is a plus.
TRAVEL:
Travel up to 5%.
