We have a winner of the ONE Africa Award 2022. Four organizations were shortlisted from over 500 applications across Africa to win the award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We turned to the public and our judges to vote. Of the shortlisted organizations, we asked people to vote on which one should be recognized as the African-led organization addressing social development issues through innovative advocacy to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Now, we have a winner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Congratulations Elena NGO!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Keep reading to learn more about Elena NGO and the ONE Africa Award!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>About Elena NGO<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/elenango.org\/about-us\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Elena<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is an African-led organization based in Cameroon. Elena started as an informal initiative to train young girls who have not had the opportunity to have a place in a post-primary educational institution for one reason or another. Today, Elena has evolved and is on a mission to develop sustainable livelihoods for the rural poor and the underprivileged through its innovative programs.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]&gt;document.createElement('video');&lt;![endif]--><br \/>\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-160894-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.one.org\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/africa\/2022\/11\/Untitled-2.mp4\">https:\/\/www.one.org\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/africa\/2022\/11\/Untitled-2.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Elena NGO will be awarded the prize of US $100,000, and celebrated at the 20th Nelson Mandela Foundation Annual Lecture on Saturday, 12 November 2022, at the Durban International Convention Centre in the City of eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), South Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>About the ONE Award&nbsp;<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ONE Africa Award recognises the exceptional work of organisations that are founded by Africans, based in Africa and working to help Africa achieve the SDGs. The US$100,000 award recognises innovative African efforts to fight poverty and incentivises more of such efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The award recognises exceptional organisations and other groups demonstrating commitment and success in assisting Africans in meeting one or more of the SDGs through innovative advocacy-based programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The 2022 ONE Africa Award recognizes best practices by an African organization addressing social development issues through innovative advocacy in promotion of SDG attainment, by aligning with the #JobsNowAfrica Campaign which is focused on job creation.
