In order to celebrate the diversity of crops our continent can support we&rsquo;ve decided to put together a list of our favourite foods. &nbsp;Are yours on our list?!<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Ugali na nyama choma (East African)<\/strong>: &ldquo;nyama choma,&rdquo; which translates as &ldquo;roast meat.&rdquo; Kenyans <i>love<\/i> nyama choma, and it is the preferred means of celebrating birthdays, weddings and visiting guests &#8211; a proper barbecue get together&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19810 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.one.org\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-25-at-15.05.41-1024x767.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-11-25 at 15.05.41\" width=\"593\" height=\"444\"><br \/> <strong>2. Injera and tibs (Ethiopian)<\/strong>: This is a classic food combination, like rice and peas or fish and chips! Injera is a bit like a large pancake made from the cereal teff and food is simply heaped on top of it! You use the Inerja to pick up all the yummy mixes, such as tibs, which is popular dish made using various meats&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19811 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.one.org\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-25-at-15.12.38.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-11-25 at 15.12.38\" width=\"796\" height=\"590\"><\/p>\n<p><strong><strong><br \/> <\/strong>3. Sadza nema veggie ane nyama (Zimbabwe)<\/strong>: This is a two part recipe with sadza on one side and the accompanying stew on the other! Sadza or sadza re chibage is an African version of thick corn porridge produced from corn meal, mielie or maize meal and water so Sadza ne Nyama Ye Huku refers simply to Zimbabwean thick corn porridge with chicken or another meat stew&hellip;<strong><strong><br \/> <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19812 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.one.org\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-25-at-16.01.57-1024x760.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-11-25 at 16.01.57\" width=\"593\" height=\"440\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Pounded yam and egusi (Nigeria)<\/strong>: Egusi with pounded yam is a very popular dish in Nigeria and has became popular in many other parts of the world. It is thickened with ground melon seeds and contains leaf vegetables, other vegetables, seasonings, and meat and is often eaten with dishes like amala or pounded yam!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19813 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.one.org\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-26-at-17.16.33.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 17.16.33\" width=\"636\" height=\"449\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Fufu and njama njama (Cameroon)<\/strong>: This exotic African stir fry &nbsp;is usually paired with fufu corn (polenta) or some would refer to it as ugali!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19814 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.one.org\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-26-at-17.18.20.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 17.18.20\" width=\"459\" height=\"392\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Samp and Beans (South Africa)<\/strong>: Samp and Beans is a traditional dish of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nguni_people\">Nguni<\/a> people of South Africa. Referred to as <i>isistambu<\/i> by the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zulu_people\">Zulu<\/a> people and <i>umngqusho<\/i> by the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Xhosa_people\">Xhosa<\/a> people &ndash; the biggest Nguni groups &ndash; the dish is made from slowly cooked sugar beans and samp (crushed corn kernels).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19815 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.one.org\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-26-at-11.29.21.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 11.29.21\" width=\"409\" height=\"419\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Jollof rice and plantain (Nigeria)<\/strong>: Jollof rice is found throughout West Africa and is thought to be the origin of the Cajun dish, jambalaya!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19816 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.one.org\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-26-at-11.39.41.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 11.39.41\" width=\"520\" height=\"317\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Dampling and Tripe (South Africa)<\/strong>: This is an unusual but delicious dish, mixing traditional dumplings with the often ignored part of meat, offal. Achu (Cameroon)<\/strong>: Achu is eaten in the Western part of Cameroon and is usually eaten with yellow or green soup. It&rsquo;s a staple food in the western part of Cameroon because the soil is great for growing cocoyam!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19818 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.one.org\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-26-at-13.27.21.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 13.27.21\" width=\"461\" height=\"530\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>10 Waterfufu and eru (Cameroon)<\/strong>: Water fufu and Eru&#8221; is a traditional dish popularly eaten in Cameroon and neighboring Nigeria.
