ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Policy & Projects Coordinator (Fixed Term) will work under the direction of the Policy & Projects Manager and will be responsible for efficient day-to-day project coordination for ONE’s Global Policy & Strategy Team. This will primarily focus on facilitating workflows and processes for ONE policy products, including helping craft project plans, communicating updates across the team and to ONE more broadly, and coordinating project inputs and rounds of edits/feedback. This role may support discrete policy research tasks as needed.

ONE’s Global Policy & Strategy Team produces industry-leading analysis on the economic, political, and social changes impacting the African continent. Our work has been cited in leading outlets like the New York Times, Financial Times, and POLITICO, and by leaders like Executive Director of UNAIDS Winnie Byanyima and former Prime Minister of Ethiopia Hailemariam Desalegn. It’s also helped shape key decisions at global Finance Ministries, World Bank/International Monetary Fund annual meetings, and G7/20 Summits. This role will help maximize our impact by ensuring the timely, efficient delivery of ONE’s policy research and associated projects.

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented generalist with an appetite to grow professionally in both project management and research skills. This is a full-time, short-term opportunity through December 31, 2024. The role reports directly to the Policy & Projects Manager (PPM) based in our Washington DC office.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

  • Coordinate the development of new policy analysis (pieces published on data.one.org and elsewhere) for the Team under the purview of the PPM, working independently or in conjunction with staff members to synchronize and organize strategies, work plans, and structures for all projects, while ensuring that project meetings are well-facilitated, and decisions are made and actioned promptly.
  • Provide support across the sub-teams within Global Policy & Strategy to include collaborating on deliverables for the ED, reviewing and editing incoming content, stepping in to directly assist sub-teams who need capacity, or providing additional support when needed.
  • Create and maintain a tracker of all ongoing projects and workstreams on the Team, including coordinating efficient information flow to and from ONE’s Executive Director for Global Policy (ED); proactively provide team-wide and cross-departmental updates on key workflows as needed. Proactively track, monitor, and follow projects, action items, and strategies using Asana.
  • Work with the PPM to monitor and report on the Team’s impact metrics and progress toward our Objectives & Key Results.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with global colleagues, especially those leading advocacy efforts and communication strategies in ONE’s markets.
  • Support the ED’s internal and external engagements by preparing briefs as needed and/or undertaking basic research/coordinating collecting information from teams as required.
  • Support the PPM to ensure that all technical and operational inputs required for successful implementation of programs are in place, that the programs run smoothly, meet technical quality expectations, and fulfill programmatic objectives within budgetary guidelines.
  • Support the team with scheduling, processing expenses and other administrative duties.
  • Additional research and administrative duties as needed.

WHAT YOU BRING TO ONE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Global Development or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant work that includes executive support, administrative tasks, and effective project coordination.
  • Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to grow your exposure in international policy, development, advocacy, political, or related field.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and organize multiple workstreams concurrently, and draft related communications in a timely manner.
  • Ability to pivot effectively as priorities shift and a work style exhibiting a high level of confidentiality, discretion, and independent judgment.
  • Highly organized, keen attention to detail, and a self-starter.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and some experience with CRM systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities under tight deadlines while performing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Related work history in poverty and infectious disease alleviation, advocacy, policy, legislation and/or demonstrable interest in the causes ONE supports.
  • Ability to work and live in the United States is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Fluency in English required. Fluency in other languages a plus — such as German and French.

TRAVEL

WORK ENVIRONMENT

COMPENSATION

We are pleased to offer an annual salary of $50,000 to $55,000. Please note that this salary is based on a full-time, year-round position. Since this role is a 3-month contract, your salary will be pro rata, which means it will be adjusted proportionally to reflect the actual hours or duration of employment.
