WOW. If you’ve been following our #PovertyIsSexist campaign this year and have been dancing and singing along to the incredible Strong Girl song, then we’ve got some really exciting news!

Our fantastic collaboration with some of Africa’s biggest stars, and in support of our Poverty is Sexist campaign, has been nominated for ‘Best African Collaboration’ in the All Africa Music Awards!

The All Africa Music Awards or, AFRIMA, as it’s known, is designed to promote distinct rich African music worldwide, engaging millions of people by propelling African music to places beyond the borders of Africa, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be nominated…

If you, like the 1 million + people who signed our petition, agree that poverty is sexist, then please support our campaign by voting for Strong Girl to win on the AFRIMA website!

The song features Arielle T, Blessing, Gabriela, Judith Sephuma, Selmor Mtukudzi, Vanessa Mdee, Victoria Kimani, Waje and Yemi Alade and is a rallying cry for our leaders to keep the promises they made at the African Union and United Nations meetings this year.

We need to empower girls and women in the poorest countries, so they can lift themselves and their communities out of poverty, and to do this we need world leaders to step up and help make this happen.

Our campaign, Poverty is Sexist.

Our campaign, Poverty is Sexist.

Strong Girl has been played on radio stations across Africa and watched hundreds of thousands of times on YouTube, and we’re so excited it’s been recognised for an award – it’s a true testament to what what ambition and self belief can achieve! Thank you all so much for your support!

If you believe that girls and women are the key to ending extreme poverty then please help us get the Strong Girl message out to even more people by voting now.
