ONE Africa Award 2022: We have a winner!

The moment you have been waiting for is finally here. We have a winner of the ONE Africa Award 2022. Four organizations were shortlisted from over 500 applications across Africa to win the award.

We turned to the public and our judges to vote. Of the shortlisted organizations, we asked people to vote on which one should be recognized as the African-led organization addressing social development issues through innovative advocacy to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Now, we have a winner.

About Elena NGO

Elena is an African-led organization based in Cameroon. Elena started as an informal initiative to train young girls who have not had the opportunity to have a place in a post-primary educational institution for one reason or another. Today, Elena has evolved and is on a mission to develop sustainable livelihoods for the rural poor and the underprivileged through its innovative programs. 

Elena NGO will be awarded the prize of US $100,000, and celebrated at the 20th Nelson Mandela Foundation Annual Lecture on Saturday, 12 November 2022, at the Durban International Convention Centre in the City of eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), South Africa.

About the ONE Award 

The ONE Africa Award recognises the exceptional work of organisations that are founded by Africans, based in Africa and working to help Africa achieve the SDGs. The US$100,000 award recognises innovative African efforts to fight poverty and incentivises more of such efforts.

The award recognises exceptional organisations and other groups demonstrating commitment and success in assisting Africans in meeting one or more of the SDGs through innovative advocacy-based programs.

The 2022 ONE Africa Award recognizes best practices by an African organization addressing social development issues through innovative advocacy in promotion of SDG attainment, by aligning with the #JobsNowAfrica Campaign which is focused on job creation. The organization that is selected as the winner will receive prize money of $100 000.
