This International Women’s Day we are urging leaders to deliver powerful changes for women and girls living in extreme poverty. None of us are equal until all of us are equal and we won’t stop campaigning until there is justice for women and girls everywhere.
Our AU Youth Voices ambassadors will be in South Africa, Namibia and Akwa Ibom State visiting schools and encouraging young girls to prioritise their education. In Senegal we are bringing together civil society, government, school teachers, and school girls for a discussion on the difficulties that girls face that are likely to jeopardize their studies (hygiene problem, defeated toilets, social assistance). We’ll be in Kenya hosting a dialogue with Julie Gichuru and 40 young women celebrating the contribution women make in all the economic sectors. You can also join our student debate on issues relating to girls’ education on ONE in Africa Facebook Live from Bells University in Nigeria.
