Our guest blogger today is musician and ONE member, D’Banj.
I’m D’banj! And as you know I usually like being in the spotlight. But this time I’m on backing vocals to support female artists with something really important to say.
Diamond, Banky W and Bono have all joined me to remix ‘Strong Girl’ – the anthem that celebrates the power of girls and women everywhere.
The original track features Omotola, Waje, Selmor Mtukudzi and other top female artists from across the continent. We may be remixing it, but the message stays the same: Poverty is Sexist. Women and girls everywhere are held back, through lack of education, and economic opportunity.
We can help change this.
1 million people have already signed the petition calling on our leaders to take action that leads to change for girls and women everywhere, but especially in the poorest communities.
As world leaders prepare to meet in New York to agree new Global Goals to end poverty in the next 15 years, our campaign is more important than ever. This isn’t just a women’s issue. This is everyone’s issue. We’ll end poverty faster – for everyone – if girls and women, boys and men get involved together.
