There are 33.2 million people living with HIV and 6,800 more people becoming infected everyday. This is primarily because of inadequate access to HIV prevention and treatment services, things that we can do something about.

Action Against Hunger

The Action Against Hunger International Network has released two publications- one addresses the relationship, challenges and opportunities for the intersection of Hunger and AIDS and the other explores the impact of the HIV epidemic on access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene in Zambia.

Africa Action

On Fri 11/30, Africa Action is helping to organize a march to the White House at 12pm, a rally at 1pm, and a Vigil at 5:30pm in Dupont Circle to show support for positive change in U.S. AIDS policies.

Americans for Informed Democracy

From Fri, 11/30- Sun, 12/2, AID is co-hosting a rally, charity soccer tournament and conference featuring expert speakers on HIV/ AIDS and other global health issues at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.

American Medical Student Association

AMSA has worked with the Global Health Council and others to organize rallies throughout the U.S. on Sat, 12/1 that will call for PEPFAR reform and let presidential candidates know that HIV/ AIDS is an important issue in the 2008 election.

ELCA encourages congregations and communities to help raise awareness on World AIDS Day by providing resources and suggested activities.

FACE AIDS chapters are showing their solidarity in the fight against AIDS by hosting vigils, raising awareness and fundraising for Partners in Health's treatment programs.

On Weds, 11/28, GHC is co-hosting a congressional briefing and reception from 3:30-7pm in the Capitol building focused on the emerging topics in global HIV/ AIDS for 2008.

On Fri, 11/30 at 7pm, Jubilee USA, Student Global AIDS Campaign and AIDS Response Seacoast Global AIDS Alliance are co-hosting an event featuring Stephen Lewis (former UN Special Envoy for AIDS in Africa) and an activist from Zambia, in Rochester, NH.

On Weds, 11/28, the first Unite Against AIDS concert will be held in Montreal, Canada on November 28th to benifit UNICEF's Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS campaign, and will be brodcast on YouTube on December 1st.

World Vision

World Vision provides new stories, videos and slideshows every day leading up to World AIDS day and features information about the first ever 24-hour Global Vigil taking place throughout the world from 11/29-11/30, beginning in Toronto and concluding in New York City.

Youth AIDS Team at World Bank

On the morning of Thurs, 11/29, the Youth AIDS Team at the World Bank is hosting a World AIDS Campaign event entitled "Leadership Role of the Private Sector: What is it going to take?"

YouthAIDS

On Fri, 11/30 at 10pm, YouthAIDS Global Ambassador Ashley Judd will be featured in the world premiere of a film that documents the journey of AIDS transmission, "India's Hidden Plague", on the National Geographic Channel.
