Kentucky ONE members make their presence known at VP debate

Yesterday Centre College was home to the Vice Presidential Debate yesterday, and Kentucky ONE members were there to make sure Congressman Paul Ryan and Vice President Joe Biden took notice! Our members raised awareness for ONE during the afternoon and evening cable shows by wearing their shirts, waving signs and making some serious noise for the fight against extreme poverty. ONE signs even made it onto MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews!

Throughout the day voters and the media visited our table to learn more about ONE Vote 2012. I was impressed and inspired to hear our KY members speak so passionately about urging the presidential candidates to continue America’s legacy in fighting extreme poverty, hunger, HIV/AIDS and access to childhood vaccines.

Before the VP candidates faced off, KY Congressional District Leader Shane Pippin got to “directly ask” a cut-out of President Obama and Gov. Romney how they would continue to help address challenges around the world. :D

This type of opportunity comes only once every four years, so I’m happy we didn’t miss this chance to promote ONE’s issues on a national stage. Big thanks to all of our Kentucky members for helping to generate visibility and advocate for helping the world’s poorest people!
