Morning call to prayer

ONE Mom Blogger Kelly Wickham is traveling in Ethiopia with ONE this week. This piece, originally published on Mocha Momma, is part of our ongoing coverage of the trip.

At Mary Joy on my first day, we were treated to a Coffee Ceremony and some dancing.

More on the dancing later. But, in anticipation of that post, here is a picture of me, ahem, breaking it down Ethiopian style. The wonderful Karen Walrond, our group photographer, took this photo of me.

This morning I assumed that I had woken up in time to hear the Call to Prayer in Addis Ababa. I was too late (or too early) but then I just head it now. I’m sitting in Karen’s room where we opened her patio door to listen and then I created a SoundCloud for this. It’s short, I know, but I am furiously journaling and have about 10 posts already in my head. So much more to come, but I am doing it “slowly, slowly”.
