VOA: Nigeria Lawmakers to Debate Oil Industry Overhaul – The Nigerian parliament meets next week for its fall session, when debates will begin on the Petroleum Industry Bill, which “could help Nigeria use its oil wealth to life regular people out of extreme poverty” and make the oil industry more transparent and accountable. While oil riches alongside crushing local poverty have been the status quo in Nigeria for decades, this new Bill could “begin to make the oil a source of wealth for the people rather than a source of anger and environmental destruction.” (Heather Murdock)

CBS/AP: Netanyahu to Obama: ‘Wait For What? Wait Until When?’ – In heated comments toward the United States, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that “Israel will not wait to take out Iranian nuclear facilities” as it’s “becoming clear that diplomacy will not work with Iran.” The Obama administration has repeatedly stated that they don’t want to go the military route against Iran and allow more time for the “sanctions to force Tehran to give up its nuclear ambitions.”

AP: China Offers Nigeria $1.1B Loan for Rail, Airports – The Chinese government has offered Nigeria a $1.1 billion loan to build airport terminals and a light rail line in its capital city. China is increasingly partnering with Nigeria for infrastructure projects, although several deals have “fallen apart amid corruption allegations.”
