ONE will be at the Electric Run all summer!

By Kirsten Craft

Wild dance parties, neon face paint and a DJ blasting the sickest pop jams are three things most people would not think of when they hear the word advocacy, but now they can.

This year ONE is teaming up with the Electric Run, the newest fitness craze that turns working out into a party. The partnership is part of a larger plan to help accelerate our poverty-fighting momentum.

Itching for more? Here are three ways you can get involved.

1. Watch this video

Watch the video and then share it with your friends to learn more about Electric Run and what a race is really like. Thousands already come out for the races, but as they move across the country they are sure to pick up speed.

2. Run in a race

Check out this link to see when Electric Run is coming to a city near you. Registering to run is pretty easy and all can be done online. If there are no races coming up in your area, sign up for an alert so you will be the first to know when the run rolls into your side of town.

Remember to bring your glow sticks and neon running gear. All participants receive funky shirts and glow stick sunglasses through registration.

3. Visit ONE’s tent at Electric Run

ONE is going to have a presence at each race working to get people to take action around our Energy Poverty campaign and connect with new members.

Volunteers are needed to hand out water to runners, talk about the importance of fighting extreme poverty, and get people to take action. Just drop us a line at field@one.org to volunteer at your local race.

We were at the first two races starting in Sacramento, CA and then on to Minneapolis/St. Paul. ONE Volunteers integrated the theme of the run into their message: being able to take a run at night is not a shared privilege across the world, but we have the power to change that. Many runners had not heard about Energy Poverty and our volunteers reported that was awesome being able to tell them about it for the first time.
