5 Reasons why this year’s ONE Campus Challenge is bigger, badder and better

What do Macklemore, facelifts and Twitter have in common? (Hint: It’s not for a People Magazine expose). Answer: They’re all helping us kick off Season 7 of the ONE Campus Challenge (OCC).

Every year, the ONE Campus Challenge, our college program, grows. More students join the movement, more ONE Campus chapters are formed, more advocacy actions are taken, and more people are able to lift themselves out of poverty.

With revamped resources, new internships and creative advocacy challenges, we are feeling confident that this year’s OCC will outdo the last. Here are five reasons why:

1. New campus challenges. This semester, we’ve got three new impactful and creative challenges for students. The first one is centered on our star-studded #agit8 protest songs project, which harnesses the power of music in advocacy and features music from Macklemore, Ed Sheeran, Tom Morello and more. See whether your college campus has a ONE chapter and see how you can get involved in #agit8 here.

2. New website: The ONE Campus website got a facelift. Take a look and see if you like it!

3. New how-to guides. There’s a how-to guide for just about everything ONE Campus chapters need to know: How to recruit new members, how to facilitate a meeting, how to plan an event, how to call Congress… it’s all there. Each guide is short, easy to ready, and can be used on an as-needed basis. Start using the how-to guides now.

4. More universities. We are proud to say that about 15 more universities have signed up for this year’s OCC, including University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Auburn University and University of Alabama (rivals, in case you didn’t know!), and SUNY Oswego, bringing us up to a total of more than 100 participating schools. See if your university is participating here.

5. New OCC Student Advisory Board. These students are the cream of the OCC crop, and we’ll be consulting with them on all matters OCC. We’re excited to work with them this year!

Want to get in on the action? There couldn’t be a better time. Head to one.org/campus and sign up to be a ONE Campus leader. Once you fill out the form, we’ll be in touch and get you set up with everything you need to bring ONE to your college campus.
