Sparking the global food revolution at Wanderlust

Last week, ONE attended Wanderlust, a one-of-a-kind festival that celebrates yoga, good food, music and more, to share our mission with attendees. Here’s an update on a unique nutrition-themed event that we helped put together. 

ONE cosponsored the Broadfork Farm-to-Table event, featuring celebrity chef and ONE supporter Hugh Acheson, at Copper Mountain for the Wanderlust Festival in Colorado last Friday. With the theme of healthy food for everyONE, 250 people came together to have a mouth-watering dinner prepared by an amazing chef and learn about ONE’s Global Food Revolution campaign.

Chef Acheson developed a delectable menu featuring dishes that highlighted ingredients readily available in an African diet and play an important role in the fight against hunger and malnutrition – foods like sweet potatoes, okra, hoppin’ john and watermelon.

Inadequate nutrition continues to devastate children and families in Africa, but introducing bio-fortified ingredients — like the orange-fleshed sweet potato, which is high in vitamin A — into the diet can help make a change.

After dinner, ONE had the chance to address the group and educate the crowd on our Global Food Revolution campaign, sign-up Wanderlust attendees to be members of ONE and chat one-on-one with folks about our work. All in all, it was a great evening filled with delicious food, campaign action and good conversation.
