ONE Act a Week: Read an African news publication

 

For the past few weeks, many of you have been glued to the US media for coverage on the political candidates. But as the election comes to a close, we propose a respite from the political news extravaganza. This week, we challenge you to read something from a news publication based in Africa. It’s a good way to get some perspective on what’s happening in the rest of the world after weeks of zeroing in on US politics!

Here’s a list of some of the publications the ONE staff regularly reads online. Choose one that piques your interest and read a few stories on the website. Then, share your thoughts about their coverage in a comment below.

 

Africa Review

Nigerian Review
The Nigerian Tribune is the oldest surviving private newspaper in Nigeria. Established in November, 1949 by one of Africa’s foremost nationalists, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Nigerian Tribune was structured, since inception, to cater for the interest of the common people.

The Citizen Tanzania 
The Citizen is Tanzania’s leading newspaper that offers the latest Tanzania news on elections, politics, business, sports, entertainment and jobs.
