ONE members around the country are hitting the presidential campaign trail, engaging and educating the candidates on the fight against extreme poverty for ONE Vote.

An editorial board meeting at the San Antonio Express News regarding ONE and the International Aids Conference.
Last week, we had two really amazing ONE Vote events both in Houston and San Antonio. ONE members new and old came out to learn more about how to get our presidential candidates engaged in our issues in the 2012 election.
We were honored to have ONE fellow and Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson along for the ride. Michael did a great job speaking at the parties about his own personal experiences traveling in Africa and seeing first-hand the difference that programs such as PEPFAR and the Global Fund have made. But what made this exciting week of ONE Vote kick-off parties in the great state of Texas even better? Gerson was able to make a quick stop at the local NBC affiliate for a television interview!

Gerson joined NBC’s Houston Newsmakers program with host Khambrel Marshall. No stranger to television, Gerson was able to spend nearly the entire segment talking about the awesome work of ONE members. Check out the full interview here. (Mr. Gerson’s segment starts at about the 15:40 mark)

Texas isn’t the only place in which ONE Vote parties are taking place -– parties happening all over the country! Check with your regional field director for more details of how to get involved. A huge thanks to Mike Gerson for adding his voice in Texas and across the country, and a special thanks for all the Texas ONE members for coming out and making extreme poverty an issue in this year’s election!
