Interested in learning more about the crisis in the Horn of Africa? Well, you’re in luck. On August 3rd at 8:10PM EST, ONE is hosting an urgent conference call on this issue. You’ll get a chance to ask questions and find out more about the crisis in the Horn, including how we can make long-term progress in the fight against chronic hunger.

We have three great guests joining the call with our US Executive Director, Sheila Nix:
USAID Administrator Raj Shah: Mr. Shah just returned from the Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya, where he had a first-hand look at the situation and how USAID-funded resources are being distributed on the ground. He has asked to speak directly with ONE members about some of the important developments he witnessed and what we can do right now to help.
World Food Programme Executive Director Josette Sheeran: As the head of the world’s largest humanitarian agency, Ms. Sheeran is aiming to feed more than 6 million of the most vulnerable in the Horn of Africa. However, resources are thin — and at the very moment that they should be ramping up operations, they have had to scale back some programs in Ethiopia and Somalia.
Ali Ali, member of the Somali diaspora community: Ali Ali is a volunteer and donor to Neighbors for Nations – a groundbreaking partnership of the American Refugee Committee and the Somali diaspora in the United States. Ali is also a founding member of 1000 Giving $1,000, a group of people who’ve committed to raising $1 Million to help in Somalia.
The call will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, August 3, at 8:10 PM EST. You don’t even need to remember to dial in. Just RSVP here, and we’ll call you promptly at 8:10.
See you tomorrow!
