Bobbie and I managed the table for the three days, along with the help of family and friends. Folks from a variety of other organizations around the area stopped by and talked to us about ways ONE can be a partner in the community. By the end of the weekend, we had signed up dozens of folks to find out more about local events. We also asked people to write letters to Senators Burr and Hagan in support for a full funding commitment of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization. We got about 70 letters signed for EACH senator. Soon Bobbie and I will deliver the packets of letters to their local offices. I was so grateful for the kindness and support of North Carolinians, and their eagerness to get involved with ONE.
Also, we were surprised and thrilled that Representative David Price stopped by our table, and we had the chance to talk to him about what ONE is doing in his district and across the country to fight extreme poverty and preventable disease. We had a great talk, and he said he was interested in learning more. We look forward to continuing the conversation with the congressman in the future.
At the end of the long and exhausting weekend, ONE at the Eno was deemed a full success! We’re exhausted, but invigorated, and can’t wait for the next steps!
