Just an hour or so ago, I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Kevin De Cock, director of the CDC’s new Center for Global Health, at the Digital Media Lounge. As one of the world’s leading experts in infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and yellow fever, he had quite a bit to say about this week’s U.N. Summit on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), particularly the goals concerning 4, 5, 6 and 7.
Dr. De Cock is optimistic about this year’s Summit, but knows that there’s still a lot of work left to be done — a sentiment that seems to be a popular one here in New York. Watch the video (the first one I’ve ever created, hooray!) and listen to his expectations for the Summit and his special message to President Obama.
