On Thursday, October 25, 2007, The ONE Campaign, Politico and the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) launch the national ONE Student | ONE Vote initiative, an unprecedented drive to involve students in the electoral process, motivate them to become politically active global citizens and provide them with an opportunity to affect substantial global change. At Thursday's ONE Student | ONE Vote at UCA, students, policy experts and political leaders will discuss how America can lead the world in ending extreme poverty and saving millions of lives.

Jim VandeHei, executive editor and co-founder of the newspaper Politico, will moderate the conversation. Panel members include UCA President Lu Hardin; author and national security expert Jeffrey Laurenti with the Century Foundation; Dr. Elaine Fox, a professor with great knowledge of Central America and the needs in that region; UCA students and others. Students will provide questions for the panel beforehand as well as throughout the event.

ONE Student | ONE Vote is part of the ONE Campaign's initiative to educate and inform young voters about the electoral process, the presidential candidates and global issues, as well as to inspire them to become leaders who engage their peers during the 2008 election cycle. Subsequent events are scheduled for the University of Pennsylvania on November 1 and at the University of Washington on November 8.

Through ONE Student | ONE Vote, the ONE Campaign is engaging students to join the millions of American members of ONE to ask all of the presidential candidates to make extreme poverty and global health foreign policy priorities. ONE Student | ONE Vote is part of ONE Vote '08, an unprecedented, non-partisan campaign launched by the ONE Campaign to ask each of presidential candidate to commit to support real solutions for these crises.

ONE Student | ONE Vote is a series of campus conversations to energize, inform and activate young voters in the upcoming 2008 election. ONE Student | ONE Vote is part of ONE Vote '08: Saving Lives, Securing our Future is an unprecedented non-partisan campaign launched by ONE to engage and energize U.S. Presidential candidates on issues of extreme poverty and global health, bringing high visibility for these issues into the U.S. political arena along with commitments by each candidate to support real solutions.
