ONE Street TweeterOne of the biggest creative challenges we face is finding ways to adequately express the spirit and strength of our amazing membership — And more than this, to maximize the impact of member voices to push for the positive changes we are all seeking to achieve. Combine this scenario with a message-saturated G8 Summit and you’ll understand why we’ve had to find something extraordinary to do next week… Ahem, cue Tweet the Street

We have been hard at work with some tech wizards to create the ONE Street Tweeter – a clever robot that can print short tweets, tweetetes if you will, (40 characters or less) on road surfaces. Yes – we want to take your messages on the road. Better still, if we print your message we’ll even send a pic of it back to you to share it with your friends.

So, what are you waiting for? You guys are more creative than any of those Mad Men types. Just tweet a message in your own words (no more than 40 characters including spaces) to encourage, rouse, and hustle the G8 to act now on hunger and poverty.

Tweet your message to @ONEStreetTweet or if you don’t do that sort of thing then you can type your message into the box below.

Name *

Let’s hit the road and get heard.

Dear G8, can you still sleep at night when you see starving African mothers holding onto their under fed children infested with flies and hunger screaming from their faces. It is heart breaking to know we in the western World exploit these people and their land. God expects good humans too help the needy, can you show courage and make a stand to help those in desperate need and are dying a slow death because of lack of food. Please I beg you please MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

You will be blessed in heaven for making the difference.

    Dear summit leaders
I wrote this in 1968 at school, we are now 44 years on and this is still happening, please, please don’t let another 44 years go by without something being addressed:

A small boy lies upon the ground
    He wants to know
    What wrong has he done
That he must feel this way?

    His stomach swollen,
Skin so taut across his boney body.
He lies ther not daring to move
Lest his last breath is taken now.

From far away a noise is heard
Of trucks moving along the bumpy path
But, the boy lies motionless and still,
He has drawn his last breath,
And one so young has died.

How many more have to die before you realise how lucky you are and how little you would have to give to enable the gift of life to be given to everyone.

Please take off your blinkers and walk in the path of no hunger and poverty for all human kind.

    Dear G8 member and Leaders,

It is now time ro take action, words are cheap. If individuals such as volunteers, doctors without frontiers can help ease the pain ever slighty IMAGINE all the posibilities if Nations would stand and work togehter with one commom goal to ease and then put an end to this ongoing plague that is hunger and poverty. With all the existing knowledge and technologies that the more fortunate Nations have at there disposal it is mind boggling that so many human beings are still suffering.

It is time for our leaders to stop increasing the wealth of a few by permitting the destriction of the planet. We inherited our world from our ancestors, and have systematically destroyed it in the process of acquiring wealth for the few, leaving the vast majority of the world’s population in abject poverty. What will be left for our descendants when this generation has stripped the planet of its natural resources, poisoned its air and water and created a climate change that may already too late to rectify. This generation will be looked on as one of greed and devastation of the common good. This is our legacy.

    To G8 leaders,

I feel you are not interested in ending poverty, misery and war. Your interest is power over others, control of their lives. Therefore you are very wrong. You are not fit to wield any power and should be removed from a degraded office. You do not represent me and you must not represent no one !

I’m an African in Africa and as much as all I want to say is a big thank you I want to add that we don’t neccesarily need to redistribute wealth, we can actually generate more. We can invest in the greatest resourse known to us yet, us! Human resources is probably the only resource on earth with an infinite potential but its the one lacking basic resources today like these potentials cannot be harnessed.

Have a heart, have a conscience, when you sit down to dine on sumptious food at the G8 summit, when your bellys are full and your thirst is quenched, think that there are people dying and suffering right now from hunger, disease and poverty. Some one’s son, daughter, sister, brother, father or mother. Like your own family, look after the world’s family, make a difference now.
