As I’m sure you’ve seen in the news, a massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck south of the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, yesterday. While many details about the situation on the ground are still developing, the BBC reports that thousands of people are feared dead.
The UN and other relief organizations are now gearing up to provide emergency support to those affected in the unfolding humanitarian crisis.
UNICEF, which has been working in Haiti since 1949, reports:
In coordination with all other UN agencies present on the ground, UNICEF will provide supplies to allow access to adequate sanitation, safe water and basic health care.
UNICEF is also preparing materials and staff so that children, tremendously vulnerable during natural catastrophes, are protected. UNICEF materials and advisors will assist so that children are able to continue learning and studying, and be provided safe recreation areas while their caretakers turn to rebuilding their lives.

I hope everybody takes the time to donate something to assist Haiti in this difficult time. Whether it be by using your twitter accounts, facebook friends, texting YELE to 501501 which will send $5 to Wyclef Jean’s charity for haiti…please go out there and help our hatian brother and sisters!
We are one…we need to carry each other…carry each other!

We haven´t got much too live either as I am not fully employed, but I have saved 150 Euros (=170 $) which I will donate to Doctors without Frontiers who will help the earthquake victims in Haiti.
I feel with the people of Haiti, and our prayers and donations go out to them. I have lived earthquakes ( a 7.9er one in 2001) , poverty and illness in own flesh while living in Peru from 1999 to 2005.

Sinto muito pelos haitianos, brasileiro e outras vítimas sobreviventes ou não do terremoto. Mas, ao mesmo tempo, como é maravilhoso ver as nações juntas lutando para ajudar !
Americanos, chinees, franceses, brasieliros, venezuelanos, ingleses…
Unidos, sem brigas.
Não poderia ser sempre assim?
I feel very for the surviving Haitians, Brazilian and other victims or not of the earthquake. But, at the same time, as he is wonderful to see the nations together fighting to help!
Americans, chinees, Frenchmen, brasieliros, Venezuelans, English…
Joined, without fight. He could not always be thus?
(it forgives my bad English [:0)] )

Yes, help is rolling on from many countries. I only hope that it arrives in time, for the airport of Port au Prince and roads are damaged or in bad conditions.
In a first step helpers are needed to find and save the survivers below the fallen down houses and walls, as well as drinkable water, medicines, transportable hospital and first aid stations, food, tents and blankets.
I hope that this will lead from an emergency aid to a long term aid and support for Haiti, one of the poorest countries of the world whih has been hit so many times by political troubles and natural desasters!
Beside donating today (myself) I have organised a campaign here in my round of neighbours, friends, relatives etc, asking them to donate whatever they can afford. This way we have gathered today 400 $ more, and we go on with that.
Lucia, yes, it is great to see that at least in the situation of natural desasters , famines etc. people of the world join their forces and help.

what are we doing as one members… and as the one campaigne to help poverty history to help.. where can we give our voice of support? how can we help???

Tanya, I think you can donate to help the victims to any bank account of Red Cross, Doctors without Frontiers, Caritas, Unicef etc. in your country. In which country do you live?
Here in Germany all TV stations publish constantly bank accounts of these and other humanitarian organisations. And I am sure they do the same in your country.
There is also a possibility of SMS-donating. You send an SMS to a certain number and therewith you donate 5 Dollars/Euros/Pounds etc. Maybe there is such a possibility in your country as well.
We have sent our donations to the german sector of Doctors without Frontiers (Medecins sans Frontiers), for from own excperience during a heavy earthquake in Peru in 2001 (we lived there at that time) they were very reliable in using the entire donations to help the victims.
Does ONE have a bank account for such purposes? We are still collecting donations here in my hometown for the Haiti earthquake victims.

Yes, it would be great to see al nations helping together and helping each other in times of need, in a positive way.
We have gathered here 700 $ for Haiti. It doesn´t seem much, but all that money comes from unemployed people in Germany.
I wish we could do even more!
Saludos a Brazil y todas las naciones.

I want to see Haiti’s debt cancelled, but I fear the banksters agreement is only a cover for the invasion of Haiti by the USA.

The Haitians are our brothers, please extend your hands of help to them for God will richly reward you for a good work for humanity.
