Event Description:
In honor of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, ONE members everywhere are standing in solidarity with the world's poor. Last October, more than 116 million people gathered in support of the Millennium Development Goals at events across the globe on October 17.
This year, you ha...(more)ve the opportunity to join ONE and CARE for a very special Take a Stand against Poverty event in Atlanta on Saturday, October 17, 2009, from 7-10 p.m.
Hosted by CNN's Fredricka Whitfield and two of the world's most prominent global health experts – Dr. Thomas Frieden, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Dr. Helene Gayle, CEO of CARE – this informative and entertaining evening will feature live music, food, a microfinance marketplace and more. You'll enjoy the sounds of The Burundi Drummers and be entertained by a surprise Grammy-nominated, multiplatinum-selling band.
PLUS, you'll have the opportunity to help those in developing countries get the tools and resources they need to lift themselves and their families out of poverty by urging support from your elected officials.
We do hope that you will join ONE and CARE in Atlanta on October 17, 2009. Your presence will make a difference.
