Internet Communications Associate

The ONE Campaign is dedicated to helping Africa beat AIDS and achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by raising public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in the world's poorest countries. ONE is a growing and dynamic NGO with offices in Washington, DC, and London, Berlin and Abuja.

We are seeking an Internet Communications Associate with 1-2 years of experience.

Description of Duties

The ONE Campaign is seeking an Internet Communications Associate to help take the organization's high-traffic website and blog to the next level. The successful candidate will work with the Online Communications Manager to ensure the site's hundreds of thousands of monthly visitors can easily take the most urgent actions and find the most current news and resources about the growing global-poverty movement. The Internet Communications Associate will work to keep fresh, web-friendly content moving through the ONE Blog and the site on a daily basis, and will also spread urgent actions, news, photos and videos social networking sites and blogs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with policy, press, field and legislative departments to develop and manage online content for ONE's website and blog.
  • Edit content for grammar, messaging, accuracy and overall style.
  • Execute online outreach through social networking sites and blogs.
  • Fill in, as necessary, within the Internet department for this rapidly growing campaign.

Specific Types of Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent copy-editing skills
  • Experience writing and editing for a publication with tight deadlines
  • Background writing for the web
  • Background in advocacy work and/or global poverty work
  • Background in online organizing and blogs
  • Background in basic HTML and/or willingness to learn
  • Bachelor's degree
