The Big ONE

The photo of the week contest this week was no contest at all.  St. John’s University – Staten Island walked away with the prize with their giant 90 person human ONE logo.

All in the Sacred Heart University Family

Sacred Heart University blew away the competition for the turkey day family involvement challenge. They recruited 102 friends, family, and relatives over the holiday weekend. That’s their second weekly challenge win, and good for 10,000 points.

In a surprising second place finish was the recently dubbed “Come Back Kid,” St. John’s University – Staten Island with 62 sign ups.

A few weeks ago St. Johns University in Staten Island was experiencing some startup problems. On November 5th they were in 716th place after breaking off of their sister campus in Queens, NY. Have no fear because now they are not just running smoothly, but racing ahead in the standing (26th place). St. Johns has truly come together as seen in this 90 strong ONE human logo. Watch out because I’m predicting they are going to make it into the top 20 very soon.

Here’s a story, of a lovely lady, who was bringing up.. wrong story.

Here’s the story of St. John’s University. Two students, each from different campuses of St. John’s in New York, contacted the ONE Campaign to spread awareness and activism to their fellow students. They sent out invites, planned events and started to work together to achieve greater goals. However each of their campuses have two different pages on the OCC site, one for St. John’s Staten Island and the other for the Jamaica, Queens’ campus. Erin from Staten Island helped move the Queens campus from two hundred and something place on the OCC site to as high as 16th place. Now she is starting all over again with the Staten Island group who is currently in 716th place.

I am sure there is a Greek tragedy or Brady Bunch episode that is based on this exact situation. Can St. John’s Staten Island join its Queens sister in the top 100? We’ll keep you updated, but the moral is when life gives you lemons, send out more invites, plan another event and make poverty history!
