Call for Blog Submissions!

March 12th, 2009 at 1:02 pm

To help you out with the individual actions contest and also to gather more awesome content for this blog (and quotes we can use in the future!), I’m inviting all OCC students to submit blog entries on this topic:

“What I Learned From OCC This Year”

Now let me be very clear: we reserve the right to reject any submissions we don’t feel are good enough to publish. That means your entry should be well-written, well-organized, concise, require minimal editing, and should be about the topic above.

You should pick something specific or a couple of specific things, and not just blather on how OCC is awesome and you’ve learned soooo much. Tell us EXACTLY what you’ve learned, and how you’re going to apply it to your life after the season ends.

Make sure your entry is about YOU and not so much your team, since you probably want this to count as an individual action. You should attach a picture of yourself engaged in OCC-related activities; doesn’t matter if we’ve seen the picture before.

Videos are, as always, encouraged. If you have a video, you can skimp on the text a bit, but otherwise we want 200-400 words. Make sure you have song rights to any music you use.

You can submit as many entries as you want and if they’re all good and different enough, they’ll all go up. If you submit them all at once, though, we might choose to space them out and not put them up all at the same time. Otherwise it will be first received, first posted. We have to limit to 3 of these entries per day, though, so if you wait until the last minute, we may not have time to post yours before the March 22nd deadline. You only get the 750 points if it actually gets posted.

To submit your blog entry, you can use the handy submit tool, or you can email your stuff as attachments to me at emily.stivers@one.org. Emailing might be better because the submit tool doesn’t allow formatting, so sometimes we can’t tell even where you want one paragraph to end and the next begin.

Whew, that’s a lot. Now tell us what you’ve learned!
