Campus ONE leader for Maui Community College, Caitlin Harrowby, participated in “Kid’s Voting” at Maui High School on Friday, Oct. 24th. Her mom, Kathleen Harrowby, Maui High School’s librarian, hosted the event using her library’s new Apple computers. All students at Maui High School voted over the course of two days. The main goal of the event was to emphasize that even though the majority of students were not the legal age of 18 to vote in the United States, their voices do count.

Caitlin also talked to students about the importance of the ONE Campaign and asked if they would sign the declaration. Four pages of signatures were collected in an hour, amounting to almost 50 individual students joining the campaign.

Oct 24th was also UN Day. It was a great opportunity gain awareness about and discuss the ONE Campaign with young people.

Caitlin really enjoyed spending time at her alma mater, as a 2006 graduate of MHS, talking with her former teachers and the new generation of students about a cause she is passionate about. She wishes she could have spent the full two days participating in “Kids Voting” but the event fell on the final days of her “Molokai Food Drive” she held to help struggling families on a neighboring island during Thanksgiving. She hopes to return to Maui High sometime soon to reach out to more students and teachers about the ONE Campaign and to ask for their involvement.
