Power 100 Speaker: Jenna Bush

Jenna SpeakingJenna Bush, President Bush’s daughter, is our afternoon speaker, which was a bit of a secret for security reasons. All Power 100 attendees had to be wanded down by secret service before entering the room.

Jenna worked for UNICEF putting a face on statistics and documenting the lives of children in central and South America. She took one of those stories and put together a book to tell the story of one girl that she met.

She’s here today as she winds up a book tour promoting Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope about a 17 year-old single mother in Panama living with HIV. She says that she really connected with Ana but, of course, her story is just one of many.

Proceeds from the book go to UNICEF. She wrote it to raise awareness and call Americans to action fighting the problem. She believes that young people can make a “huge” difference. The most important thing we can do is “get educated and educate others.”
