March 8, 2010 -- ONE, a global anti-poverty group, and actor Jeremy Piven have teamed up for the YouTube Video Volunteers Program to call for video submissions to raise awareness about the fight against global poverty and the results that have been achieved. The deadline to submit video will be March 26th.

Each month, the YouTube Video Volunteers program asks YouTube's best video-makers to produce videos for nonprofits working on that month's featured issue. The three best videos, as voted on by the YouTube community, will be featured on the YouTube homepage and on ONE.org homepage at the end of the month.

"ONE is excited to work with Jeremy Piven and YouTube's Video Volunteers to provide a simple way for people to help raise awareness about global anti-poverty efforts and share the real successes that must be built upon to turn the tide in the fight against extreme poverty," said Sheila Nix, U.S. Executive Director of ONE. "For an advocacy group, YouTube's Video Volunteers Project is a great way to engage at the grassroots level to communicate the tremendous strides made in recent years that have cut malaria in half in some parts of Africa, educated 42 million more children and provided 3 million people with life-saving AIDS treatment."

"I am happy to join ONE to engage YouTubers to get involved in creative and different ways in getting the word out about the fight against poverty," said Piven, star of HBO's Entourage.  "YouTube gives anybody and I mean anybody the platform to be an actor, musician or, in this case, an advocate. I look forward to see what is produced to support this important cause."
