Save 4 million children's lives in 5 years

In the spring of 2011, ONE launched a new childhood vaccines campaign to help save 4 million kids' lives in 5 years. The campaign specifically called for President Obama to help fund two proven new vaccines that would help stop pneumonia and diarrhea-two of the biggest killers of kids in poor countries.

ONE members pulled out all the stops to spread the word about this campaign. More than 150,000 ONE members from across the country added their name to a petition for the White House. Thousands of members tweeted, wrote and called President Obama to urge action on this lifesaving issues. And thousands watched and shared our new PSA and documentary about the importance of vaccines.

On June 13th, 2011, USAID Administrator Raj Shah announced that the Obama administration would commit $450 million over the next three years to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations-the exact amount of funding ONE members asked for.

We heard directly from the White House-and from USAID Administrator Raj Shah himself in a special video message-that ONE members hard work made a huge difference. With this pledge, we moved one big step closer to saving 4 million kids' lives in the next 5 years.
