“Stand Up” House Parties 2006

The 2006 house parties represented ONE's U.S. involvement in the first "Stand Up," which has become an annual tradition around the world, of bringing people together on or around October 15 to talk about and take action on global poverty. The movement set the Guinness World Record for "the largest single coordinated movement of people in history" in 2006, and in 2007, 43.7 million people "Stood Up" against poverty worldwide, shattering the previous record and demonstrating the ongoing momentum of the global anti-poverty movement.

In 2008, 113 million people -- nearly 2% of the world's population -- "Stood Up" during Stand Up and Take Action events, once again setting the World Record and continuing the important discussion on global poverty worldwide.
