WEB DEVELOPER

ONE is a global advocacy and campaigning organization backed by more than 2 million people from around the world dedicated to fighting extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. ONE has offices in Washington DC, London, Berlin, Brussels, and Abuja.  This position will be based in ONE's Washington DC office. 

The Web Developer will maintain existing sites and develop new areas and enhancements in order to mobilize an online constituency in the fight against extreme poverty and global disease.  This position will work closely with a team of designers, writers and campaign managers.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and update content on ONE's multiple web properties
  • Work closely with new media, design and campaign staff to develop web features and enhance existing functionality
  • Collaborate with key staff to develop requirements around new projects
  • Analyze the website using key metrics and testing to determine necessary upgrades, optimal layouts and workflows

SPECIFIC TYPES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree, 3-4 years experience building out internet based campaigns in a fast-paced environment, particularly for political organizing or issue advocacy
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with HTML, CSS, Javascript, MySQL and PHP (Mason, Perl or AJAX a plus)
  • Knowledge of Wordpress, Macromedia Studio, Photoshop and Flash
  • Familiarity with Django and SVN version control a plus
  • Experience with app development and integration with social networking platforms (Facebook, Twitter, iPhone a plus)
  • Experience in campaign site creation, development of userflows, design and interactive tools
  • Self-starter who can work independently and has a desire to learn new skills
  • Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration
  • Ability to multitask and determine priority projects/assignments
  • Ability to communicate project scope, timeframe and progress to non-technical staff
  • Ability to think critically and independently
  • General interest and dedication to the mission of ONE
