FIELD COORDINATOR

ONE is a global advocacy and campaigning organization backed by more than 2 million people from around the world dedicated to fighting extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. ONE has offices in Washington, DC, London, Berlin and Abuja.  This position will work out of our DC location.

The Field Coordinator is responsible for helping develop, maintain and mobilize active volunteers in multiple states across the country.  The Field Coordinator will largely work with volunteers who have already been active in the campaign but will also be responsible for helping develop and nurture a volunteer base in key legislative districts.  This highly professional, motivated, energetic, and well organized individual will also work closely with the ONE Student Coordinator to support the ONE Campus Challenge. 

The Field Coordinator's primary duties will be to oversee targeted volunteer networks across the country and to organize them for grassroots action; serve as key liaison between ONE and its active volunteers; respond to requests for ONE materials, policy and legislative briefings, and other questions; and help coordinate events, calls, and meetings with volunteers to ensure ONE's most active volunteers remain committed leaders in the fight against extreme poverty. 

This position reports to the Deputy Field Director. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for continuing relationships, on-going education, and mobilization of existing volunteers in a number of states currently not covered by the ONE Field Team
  • Mobilize members to take action at key times through action alerts, call-in days, letter delivery, LTE's, special events, etc.
  • Recruit volunteers for grassroots action such as meetings with members of Congress, special events and other national ONE initiatives
  • Collaborate with ONE's Student Coordinator to support the ONE Campus Challenge across the country 
  • Collaborate with other ONE departments (Internet, Communications, and Outreach, etc) to ensure that ONE's initiatives are effectively carried out on the ground 
  • Coordinate and help oversee Field interns

SPECIFIC TYPES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with campaigns or advocacy groups preferred  
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills
  • Organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task
  • Works well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration
  • Able to take initiative and be self-motivated
  • Entrepreneurial spirit; does not mind unstructured and sometimes unpredictable environment
