US Legislative Priorities: Debt Relief

As long as poor countries continue to pay old high interest debts, they will find it difficult to invest in the wellbeing of their people including health care and education. ONE advocates for an increase of $100 million more to help reduce the debt burden for a group of pre-approved poor countries. ONE also supports legislation to expand the number of poor countries eligible for cancellation of debts owed to the United States and the international financial institutions
