    Out of over 250 applications, ONE is proud to announce the five finalists for the 2012 ONE Africa Award, a $100,000 USD prize annually awarded by ONE. These five finalists are currently undergoing an extensive due diligence process for an internal Selection Committee to chose this year’s winner.   • EU leaders must redouble efforts to protect aid to the poorest

    Reacting to the Cyprus EU presidency proposals on the long term EU budget published last night, anti-poverty campaign group ONE calls on EU leaders to prioritise protecting aid to the poorest countries at their special summit on 22-23 November.  According to ONE’s initial analysis, the Cypriot proposal includes cuts to so-called external spending instruments averaging 7.3% compared to an earlier European Commission budget proposal.   More

    ONE warmly welcomes the European Parliament Legal Affairs Committee’s vote on new rules requiring oil and mining companies to declare the payments they make to foreign governments.  If agreed by EU Member States, the laws will bring Europe in line with new U.S. rules adopted in August, paving the way towards a global extractives transparency standard.
