He announced a new campaign on early-childhood years, a review into the causes of corruption to be undertaken by Hadeel Ibrahim of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation and spoke about his belief that with the right policies poverty could be eradicated and aid dependency reduced by 2030. ONE warmly welcomes the European Parliament Legal Affairs Committee’s vote on new rules requiring oil and mining companies to declare the payments they make to foreign governments. If agreed by EU Member States, the laws will bring Europe in line with new U.S. rules adopted in August, paving the way towards a global extractives transparency standard. More

ONE warmly welcomes the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) historic adoption of regulations to implement the Cardin-Lugar Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street and Consumer Protection Act of 2010. While we await the full wording of the rule, based on the statements of the SEC and staff it represents a major breakthrough towards ending corruption, promoting human rights, protecting investors and strengthening national security.
