Hunger Crisis

As prices for staple foods essential to the world's poorest people soared to record highs in 2008, more than 140,000 ONE members signed our petition to President George W. Bush asking him to work to get the hunger crisis on the agenda at the 2008 G8 Summit, and to secure additional commitments for all types of food assistance and increased agricultural productivity in developing countries. During President George W. Bush's 2008 trip to Africa, more than 103,000 ONE members called on the U.S. presidential candidates running in the Republican and Democratic primaries to pledge to, if elected, visit Africa in their first term -- and they all agreed to that commitment. MORE -

For the 2006 Global Day of Action against poverty, more than 6,000 ONE members organized house parties across the U.S. -- joining 23.5 million people worldwide to set a world record and start a public conversation about global poverty. MORE -
Save the International Affairs Budget

Live 8
May - July, 2005A series of free, simultaneous concerts in 10 cities was the climax of ONE's contribution to a global movement resulting in unprecedented commitments to cancel debts, double aid and deliver near universal access to AIDS treatment at the 2005 G8 Summit in Gleneagles. However, these promises mean nothing if they are not delivered and ONE is working hard to ensure they follow through.
