Ask the G20 to Go to Africa

Ahead of the G20 meeting in Pittsburgh, ONE asked leaders to schedule future meetings of the group in Africa.  As ONE members, we know Africa has the potential to be an economic engine of the 21st century and must be a part of the global economic recovery. Now we need to convince the world.

As the leaders of the twenty wealthiest and most powerful nations meet in Pittsburgh for the G20 Summit September 24-25, 2009, we must convince them to hold an upcoming summit in Africa and focus the world on Africa's opportunities and promise.

    The Pittsburgh Summit on 25th September was another chance to highlight the need to bring Africa into the center of the global economic recovery. While the G20 agenda was primarily focussed on following up on financial system reforms from the London summit, they reaffirmed previous commitments that they have made to the poor.
