Throughout Africa, there is amazing progress to end extreme poverty and preventable disease. New ideas and exciting approaches are transforming lives. The ONE Africa Award celebrates progress toward achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, the world’s blueprint to a better future, ranging from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education. ONE applauds the progress made, and looks forward to solutions for the challenges still ahead.

ONE will recognize the Africa- driven, African led advocacy efforts that have demonstrated success at a community, national, or regional level. By honouring the commitment and progress on the ground, we hope that new efforts can be inspired and more lives can be saved.

Who Qualifies: Individuals, organizations or other groups based in Africa that can demonstrate commitment and success in advocacy to promote the attainment of one or more of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are invited to apply.

When to Apply: The closing date for for applications is 21 September 2011. All entries sent by mail must be received by this deadline regardless of postage date.

The 2011 ONE Africa Award Recipient will be contacted in November of 2011.
