Campaigns Manager, Coordinated Campaigns

ONE is a campaign and advocacy organization backed by two million people from around the world and every walk of life who are committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. We hold world leaders to account for the promises made to the poorest, and we press them to support better policies and more effective aid and trade reform. We also work with leaders in Africa to support greater democracy, accountability and transparency so these resources can be effectively deployed. 

We are looking for a Campaigns Manager to support the development of ONE’s global campaigns. As one of three Campaigns Managers, this role will lead on relationships with colleagues in the NGO sector and developing new and innovative partnerships with a range of diverse actors to drive new campaigns. As part of the Global Campaigns Team, this role will also manage major campaigns.

This is a new and exciting role within a dynamic and fast paced environment.  The ideal candidate will be a skilled networker with the ability to build key relationships and have an in-depth knowledge of the development and campaigning landscape and familiarity with NGO positions on our issues.  They will also have an excellent understanding of how to mobilise public support.

Reports to: Senior Director, Global Campaigns
Location: London, with occasional international travel

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Managing ONE’s engagement with other development and campaigning groups to increase the impact of collaborations and work on joint campaigns;
  • Seeking out new and diverse constituencies to partner with for innovative campaigns;
  • Developing and delivering major campaigns as part of the Global Campaigns Team;
  • Working with the Global Campaigns Team to identify key moments and strategic opportunities for member engagement and popular mobilization and advise on how ONE maximize these opportunities;
  • Keeping on top of relevant innovations in campaigning and marketing;
  • Ensuring ONE actively participates in key networks such as BOND and GCAP;
  • Working with ONE colleagues in Washington DC, Brussels, Berlin, and Abuja to ensure our global campaigns are reflective of the cultural/country specific environment;
  • Representing ONE at external meetings and events.

Skills and competence required for the role (candidates should demonstrate how their experience meets these in their application):

  • A strong track record of delivering high impact campaigns
  • Highly developed skills in  listening, negotiation and collaboration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Significant knowledge of the international development sector and campaigning organizations
  • Proven experience of working on membership programmes, utilizing technology and social media to advance membership engagement
  • Well-organized with excellent time management and prioritization skills and good attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment, to be flexible, resourceful, and innovative
  • Exercises significant judgment in managing risk
  • Commitment to ONE’s aims  and an understanding of the interfacing between campaigns, advocacy, and policy
  • Patience and a sense of humour
  • Experience in organizing high-level events desirable
  • Fluent English essential; fluency in another major European language desirable.
