Campaigns Coordinator, Europe

ONE is a campaign and advocacy organisation with more than 2 million members committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. We hold world leaders to account for the promises made to the poorest, and we press them to support better policies and more effective aid and trade reform. We also work with leaders in Africa to support greater democracy, accountability and transparency so these resources can be effectively deployed. 

We are looking for a Campaigns Coordinator to support our growing public mobilisation campaigns throughout Europe and around the world. This is a new role, and will require a candidate with excellent organisational and communications skills, entrepreneurship, creativity, a strong work ethic, and commitment to ONE’s cause.

We need an energetic and enthusiastic team player, with experience working within a communications, advocacy or campaigning environment.  Some knowledge of Africa and the international development/aid agenda would be a plus.

Reports to:  Campaigns Manager

Location:  London, with occasional international travel required
 
Principal duties and responsibilities:   

  • Assist the Global Campaigns Team in the delivery of campaigns outside the US through the coordination and administration of specific projects;
  • Work with the campaigns and web teams to coordinate and draft campaigns content (particularly online) which encourages people to get involved and take action;
  • Reviewing relevant publications and websites for campaigns content, keeping the team informed of relevant issues and innovations;
  • Provide logistical support for the execution of ONE’s campaign events;
  • Participate in crafting strategy within the Global Campaigns Team for engaging ONE members and the general public in the fight against poverty;
  • Engage with ONE members online and in person in the UK to build strong activist groups.


Skills and competence required for the role (candidates should demonstrate how their experience meets these in their application):

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to write persuasive material;
  • Strong understanding of social media and its use in public mobilisation;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Very well organised with a proven ability to multi-task;
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness to respond to a fast-paced work environment with shifting deadlines;
  • The ability to work effectively and sensitively with a wide range of NGOs and other partners in the UK;
  • Experience of working within a campaigns, advocacy or communications environment;
  • A strong commitment to ONE’s mission;
  • Familiarity with UK and European politics;
  • Some understanding of development issues affecting Africa is desirable;
  • Proficiency with HTML and CSS a plus;
  • Experience of project management and organising events an advantage;
  • Ability and willingness to travel if required;
  • Patience and a sense of humour.
