ONE combines public mobilisation and direct engagement with high-level decision makers in order to achieve the best results in the fight against global poverty.

ONE engages heads of state, ministers, policy makers and members of the media - individuals that make or influence decisions that will have an impact on the poorest people on the planet. ONE can also mobilise a network of high-profile spokespeople and leaders to move the development agenda forward.

The Accra Agenda for Action on aid effectiveness (AAA) is a strong example of this approach at its most effective. ONE principals and staff worked development ministers of donor nations to build support for key facets of AAA, including providing information on development funds and timetables so that developing countries can incorporate it into their planning; to use developing countries' own systems for delivering aid; and to make aid more transparent.
